Appointed Persons Course

The 1-day Appointed Persons course is the minimum standard recognised by the Health and Safety Executive. It is acceptable for those working in small groups or in low-risk category employment, such as offices or libraries. It is also suited to individuals in larger organisations who deputise for the qualified First Aider during sickness or holidays.
Employers have a duty to make provision for First Aid under the Health and Safety (First Aid at Work) Regulations 1981.

In partnership with ‘Aiding You’, The Training Agency are pleased to announce First Aid training in our purpose-built training centre in Cardiff.

Course Content

- Responsibilities of an Appointed Person

- Contents of a First Aid Box

- Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

- Care of an Unconscious Casualty

- Broken Bones and Burns

- Eye Injuries and Swallowed Poisons

- Shock

- Control of Bleeding

- Head and Spine Injuries

- Seizures and Heart Attacks

- Disposal, Delegation and Communication

Upon completion of this course, delegates will be awarded an Appointed Persons Certificate, which is recognised by HSE and is valid for three years.

The course duration is a minimum of 6 hours including the assessment. It can run from 9.00am to 4.30pm or over two evenings from 6.00pm to 9.00pm.
